I've just returned from being on duty outside this morning and was disappointed with some of the driving and parking that I saw. It is important, even when it's raining, that road users take account of the safety of our school community.
To address the issues that I have seen this morning, I have done the following:
- spoken to those who I saw stopping on zig zag lines as this is against the law, can result in a penalty fine and is dangerous for your own children and those of others
- contacted the taxi company who stopped immediately outside the school, passing on the number of the taxi driver and reminding them of the law
- written to individual parents who caused an obstruction
- emailed the road traffic team at Luton Council who will be carrying out spot checks as necessary
I would like to thank the vast majority of parents who do support us with keeping everyone safe including children, parents and staff. We are lucky to have so much space outside school for roadside parking and parking further away and then walking is even better.
Thank you for your support,
