Where learning comes to life

Family Support

Miss Dawn Hubbard is our Pastoral Team Lead. Our pastoral team works closely with external agencies and professionals in relation to families who require additional support. The pastoral team works with a variety of families and is always available to offer emotional and financial advice and support.

Our pastoral team also gives emotional and practical advice and support to families that are having long and short-term difficulties. By supporting families and facilitating groups they help parents and carers support their child’s learning and, ultimately, enjoy spending time with their children.

Our pastoral team works closely with the Education Welfare Officer and carry out home visits in order to monitor attendance.

Groups and activities run by the Pastoral Team include:

  • Men R Us
  • Stay and Play
  • PEEP
  • Family days out
  • Home visits for all new starters including Nursery-aged children
  • Parenting sessions
  • Family Learning
  • Video Interactive Guidance (VIG)
  • Online registration support
  • Financial advice and support
  • Form filling/application support
  • Free School Meal Applications

Mrs Emma Wainwright and Miss Lisa Wilson are our Learning Mentors. As Learning Mentors they work either with individual children or small groups to help children to achieve their full potential and overcome particular barriers to learning. A Learning Mentor is a professional friend who can bridge the gap between home and school, providing support and practical advice on various issues that may be affecting a pupils learning.

Miss Marie Loney is our Behaviour Support Assistant. She works in class and at playtime and lunchtimes with children guiding children to make positive choices and engage in friendly play, developing vital social skills.
