Where learning comes to life

School Day

School gates open at 8:30 am

There are three school gates, all of which are accessed from Pastures Way.

The main gate gives access to all areas of the school. The upper school gate (nearest Pastures Way Nursery) gives the easiest access to Years 4 and 5. The lower school gate (nearest Wheatfield Road) gives the easiest access to Nursery, Reception and Year 1. The upper school and lower school gates will close at 8:45 am, if you are on-site at or after this time you will need to leave by the main gate. The main gate will remain open until 8:50 am to allow parents/carers to leave the school site.

Registers are taken at 8:45 am

Free breakfast is available in the classroom from 8:30 am. Once the register has begun your child is late for school and will receive a late mark in the register. If you get to the classroom after 8:45am you must report to the office for your child to be signed in and their dinner choices registered. Frequent lateness has a detrimental impact on not just your child but the other children in the class, disrupting the morning routines. Being late causes unnecessary feelings of anxiety at the start of the day, they can miss important messages and even the beginning of a lesson - missing vital learning.

Learning

Each class has a weekly timetable that is made available to you. This shows which lessons are taught when and is useful for knowing what your child may need to have with them that day, e.g. PE Kit. There may be changes to this timetable, this may be for a special event or visit.

Snack and Story

Every class has a time during the morning when teachers read to children, this is a calm and quiet time where children can relax and listen to a story. They may have a drink and eat a healthy snack in this session. Snacks are provided for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children. Fruit and vegetables are funded through a government scheme. Key Stage 2 children may bring in a snack such as a piece of fruit or a cereal bar. Children in Nursery also have snack time during the afternoon.

Playtime

Children enjoy a 15-minute playtime during the morning. This is a social time spent on the playground with friends. We know how important it is for children to get fresh air and exercise between lessons so we go outside in almost all weathers. Please ensure children have appropriate clothing each day, e.g. a warm coat or a sun hat.

Lunchtime

Lunchtime is an hour for all children at staggered times between 11:30 am and 1:15 pm. Lunchtime allows ample time for social time on the playground with friends and to eat their lunch. Lunch is served in the upper school hall and a menu is available to parents on the weekly newsletter sent home via ParentMail.

School gates open at 3:20 pm

The three school gates are opened at 3:20 pm. Children will be dismissed to a known adult or walk home with permission (Years 5 and 6 only) from 3:25 pm and must be collected by 3:30 pm. Children who are not collected on time will be taken to Care Club and a charge for the session will be made.

Nursery Access

Children should be collected from the morning session between 11:25 am and 11:30 am. The start of the afternoon session is 12:30 pm. The Nursery can be accessed by the main gate at these times. Please buzz the main office for entry and be mindful not to let anyone else in or out of the gate.
