Bikeability - 1st July 2021
A group of our Year 5 children taking part in Bikeability sessions are just back from a session out on the road. They have been really sensible as they learn about staying safe when they ride their bikes - well done everyone!
Material Detectives - 11th May 2021
Year 5 have been 'Material Detectives' today, investigating the properties of different materials around the school. They then used their thinking dice to think of other materials we could add to different categories.
Captain Sir Tom Moore 101 Challenge - 30th April 2021
Hawk class enjoyed their Lego Challenge as part of the 101 Challenge commemorating the life of Captain Sir Tom Moore on the day that would have been his 101st birthday!
Outdoor Spellings - 19th April 2021
Year 5 took advantage of today's fabulous weather and had their spelling practice outside this morning.
Victorian Day - 13th April 2021
Year 5 got into character today to find out more about what life would have been like for Victorian school children. It was very strict in the classrooms but they managed to fit in some fun outside as well!
Children in Year 5 enjoyed rounding off this term's learning with a bridge building workshop!
A Visit from Happy Harry - 17th March 2021
Year 5 are learning about local history with the help of Luton Town Football Club and this week we were all excited that the Hatters' Mascot, Happy Harry, found the time to visit everyone all around the school!
Luton Town Football Club - 10th March 2021
Year 5 are learning about local history and were delighted to be joined by staff from Luton Town Football Club this afternoon. Sam and Jack led sessions in the classroom and also out on the playground. We think Happy Harry might be popping along soon too so watch this space...
Fractions - 9th March 2021
To help to understand fractions of amounts Year 5 looked at chocolate and worked out how much chocolate the teachers would eat if they ate everyone's fractions!
Monet-Inspired Artwork - 5th March 2021
Year 5 have enjoyed looking at the art of Claude Monet and have used his work to inspire their own art.
World Book Day - 4th March 2021
We all enjoyed dressing up as our favourite book characters for World Book Day!

To round off their learning this term, Year 5 have enjoyed a Greek Day of art and sport.
Greek Names - 11th December 2020
Children have been practising writing their name in Greek and we think they've done a fabulous job!
Researching Natural Disasters - 26th November 2020
Year 5 have been working carefully to research natural disasters as part of this term's learning using laptops and ipads to find out information.
Volcano Chatterboxes - 17th November 2020
Year 5 have been busy making volcano chatterboxes - they have labelled the outside with what the volcano looks like and the inside with what's inside the Earth.
Bottle Rockets - 6th November 2020
Year 5 have really enjoyed finding out about the force of gravity with bottle rockets. The children designed their own investigation and decided which independent variables they wanted to change before launching their rockets.
Making Lava Lamps - 6th October 2020
Continuing the space theme, Year 5 have enjoyed making lava lamps today using those bottles that our families have kindly sent into school. The lava lamps look brilliant are quite mesmerising!
Moon Phases - 24th September 2020

Alien Abduction - 21st September 2020
To support children with developing their writing skills, we use Pie Corbett's Talk 4 Writing process throughout the school. This involves children learning a story, including actions, which they can then use to support their own independent writing. We hope you like the story that children in Year 5 have been learning.
Flying Saucers - 14th September 2020
To kick off their topic, Out of this World, Year 5 have been making Flying Saucers and it looks likde they've had great fun!
