Curriculum Newsletter - Spring Term

Greek Day - 16th December 2020

To round off their learning this term, Year 5 have enjoyed a Greek Day of art and sport.

Greek Names - 11th December 2020

Children have been practising writing their name in Greek and we think they've done a fabulous job!

Researching Natural Disasters - 26th November 2020

Year 5 have been working carefully to research natural disasters as part of this term's learning using laptops and ipads to find out information.

Volcano Chatterboxes - 17th November 2020

Year 5 have been busy making volcano chatterboxes - they have labelled the outside with what the volcano looks like and the inside with what's inside the Earth.

Bottle Rockets - 6th November 2020

Year 5 have really enjoyed finding out about the force of gravity with bottle rockets. The children designed their own investigation and decided which independent variables they wanted to change before launching their rockets.

Making Lava Lamps - 6th October 2020

Continuing the space theme, Year 5 have enjoyed making lava lamps today using those bottles that our families have kindly sent into school. The lava lamps look brilliant are quite mesmerising!

Moon Phases - 24th September 2020

Children have enjoyed demonstrating their learning about the different phases of the moon this afternoon.

Alien Abduction - 21st September 2020

To support children with developing their writing skills, we use Pie Corbett's Talk 4 Writing process throughout the school. This involves children learning a story, including actions, which they can then use to support their own independent writing. We hope you like the story that children in Year 5 have been learning.

Flying Saucers - 14th September 2020

To kick off their topic, Out of this World, Year 5 have been making Flying Saucers and it looks likde they've had great fun!
